Simon Ekpa Has been Sentenced to 6 years in prison by The Finish court

Simon Ekpa, a Nigerian-born activist pushing for Biafra’s independence, has been sentenced to six years in prison by the Finnish court on September 1, 2025.

Eye witness says that the Päijät-Häme District Court found him guilty of terrorism and crimes, which includes inciting violence and supporting a poscribed organization.

Ekpa, a former Lahti councillor, used his large social media following to promote unrest in Nigeria’s southeast from 2021 to 2024.

According to report Simon was accused of supplying weapons and encouraged attacks, the court said.

Aside these charges Simon was also convicted of tax fraud and violating Finland’s Lawyers Act.

Ekpa, arrested in November 2024, denied the charges, but the judges ruled unanimously. The sentence can be appealed.
