The United States government has disclosed that negotiations are ongoing between TikTok and the U.S. government, with the possibility of finalizing the deal within a few days.
Reports reveal that part of the agreement will allow the American government to oversee TikTok’s algorithm and control most of the seats on the company’s U.S. board and Oracle will also manage the platform’s data and ensure its safety.
This move comes after serious concerns about the influence of TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance, which is based in China. Earlier, Congress passed a law requiring TikTok to change ownership or face a nationwide ban.
